Hmm? Seriously, I can't recommend anyone use keyword density checkers - there's no general belief in commercial SEO that it is relevant to Google's algo.

Hi Brian,
thanks for the reply... I tend to agree as I have been shown that it is mathematically proven that as long as your content "reads well" (for the want of a better term) it shouldn't matter. However if you have a number of pages on the same topic targetting related keywords I like to know the density is for any particular page. The reason being that for myself I prefer the highest density for a 2 or 3 keyword phrase to be something relevant. p.s. keyword density does seem to be high on the list of recommendations from most SEO specialists I come across! ![]() Seriously, forget about keyword density and think more about related keywords and semantic relationships - that's where Google is these days. ![]() Of course, that's just my opinion.

Hi Brian,
I agree with everything you say, but I think you have to take into account where they are now and where they want to be. I think they are nowhere near as far forward as people think. I think I've said it before that google can be pretty poor if you are looking for something specific, don't get the results you are looking for and no amount of tweaking of the search seems to affect the results. I monitor a number of sites other than my own watching their movements for certain keywords. One of the most interesting ones I monitor came up when I was trying to see how well my blog was doing. As it's a "commercial loan blog" I naturally input those 3 keywords (without quotes)(this was early 2008). To my surprise in the top 2 (and has been all year) was one that had a heading "Commercial Loan Blog" and another header message "Hints and Tips For Commercial Loan Agents". That blog was set up in feb 2007 and there hasn't been a single post on it.... IMO that's a pretty poor result to have survived in the top 2 over what must be numerous updates! I'd be interested to know your thoughts on how it is returned so high with zero page rank. To go direct just put the 3 KW's together and add ".com", but it's a top 2 result. I can't see the result for "hints and tips ...", but I do see some keyword domains ranking top on Google UK searches.
Google made a point over the past couple of years to give keyword domains an extra boost - presumably because they could be potentially very relevant, and also perhaps because it gives smaller and less established websites a chance to distinguish themselves over big sites that could otherwise dominate all search results in that sector. I posted something earlier this year on how to potentially leverage this: http://www.internetbusiness.co.uk/08...yword-domains/ So in this instance, I think we're looking at where Google uses the keyword domain as a major signal rather than anything else. Does that helps?

Hi Brian,
I am going to have to agree with Brian on this one. Keyword density fell off the face of the earth in 2001-2002; back when people were still optimizing for sites like excite. Focus on incoming links; with your variations of your keywords in your anchor text. Jeff |

I wouldn't worry too much about keyword density, just make sure you have your keyords in all the right places... h1 tags, h2 tags, meta description, navigation, images, incoming links etc |

Just type in keyword density analysis into Google and there are a number of sites that will do a scan of your site and a number of competitors showing the respective keyword densities of the sites.
