Indeed, I suggested previously that Google Chrome will only take up a minority of the browser market, usually with techies - not the general consumer market:

There doesn't seem to be any strong reason to change from whatever you're already using. There's some new stuff, but nothing really groundbreaking - and most of the good stuff will be made into Firefox extensions within a month anyway.. Unless they have some cunning long-term plan for this, I really don't see the point. In a way, it's kinda clever to try and extend their brand to a browser, as that's something which will really associate themselves with the internet, but it's not going to work unless people have a good reason to change. This release doesn't have that reason (but maybe it'll be available as a patch).

I don't think Google will ever succesfully exapand their brand into anything - they are a victim of their own success... Google is search and that's that.

You don't even "search the internet" anymore you "Google it" and it's this massive market share in search that means that Google will always be search, if they want to branch out then they need to create totally seperate brands...

The best browser is the one that fits your needs best, evaluate them all and make your own decision, don't just follow the group with the loudest shouters
