Are affiliate payments tax deductible?

I was just wondering if affiliate payments are tax deductible in the same way as advertising would be?

So say for instance I pay an affiliate £300 - can I deduct this from my tax liability?

I am presuming that it would be as the affiliate would be responsible for paying tax on it?

If it isn't then how is it accountible for tax purposes?

Hi Tony

To put it simply, yes it would be seen as a business expense. The same as income you earn from affiliates has to be declared.

Just keep a clear record of payments made and put them through as an expense which is therefore deducted from income/profit before tax. You are after all paying for advertising in effect.
