LayeredTech price increase

Anyone else had notification of a price increase from Layered Technology? I've had a server with them for years and it's going up by about 30% from July

Fortunately I'd already started on a technology refresh and have a new server on-line and ready to roll in the UK for these accounts.

A month may be a long time in Internet time, however it's not a lot of notice if you have to order, build & test a new server AND explain the transfer process to customers who registered their names elsewhere (so much easier for the host when you also control the domain as well )

I know you can often order a server and have it on-line same day, however, I'd rather take time & test and ensure the setup is OK.

Ouch...30% is a bit of a hike!

I can see the LT price increase hitting a lot of companies as there are a lot of well known dedi server providers which are infact only LT resellers...

Don't know whether the price hike is 30% across the board, but that's what my increase is. Costs in the UK have come down sufficiently to make it worthwhile for me to run just UK servers at the moment, most of my customers are UK or Europe, so it'll probably help them.

Oh yes, others have noticed it too I have been slapped with a 26% hike, second hike in 12 months or so.

Frankly I am open to knowing about better priced alternatives as detailed in the link above.

I don't look at WHT that often these days, but there's a 38 page thread already on the LT price rises - looks quite unpopular
