I am thinking of selling www.iphoneusers.co.uk - I registered it for the upcoming launch of the Apple iPhone in the UK and planned a user portal on it (I had great success with a similar project with the Nokia N95)...
But to be honest I haven't got the time and the iphone just doesn't interest me - so how do I find a rough value and WHERE can I sell it? I looked at SEDO but the amount of domains for sale is frightening! eBay seems to dodgy...? Help Anyone?

Drop me a PM with an idea of what you're looking to get for it and I'll ask about and see if I can get any interest for you.

NEVER try and sell a domain like that to the parent company, you'll get at the best a DRS case raised with Nominet, at worst you'll get their laywers on to you for abusive registration. Best outcome would be to have the domain handed over to the trademark owner, worst case would be loss of the domain and hit with the legal fees.

This can/will more than likely get sticky especially with the word iphone in the domain.
I dont *Think* you can seel it without apple kicking up a fuss - the only reason I say that is because the word iPhone is more than likely a registered trademark of Apple, which means they have the sole ownership that says ipone anything - I wouldn't risk it, just point it to a site a look forward to possible extra hits. |

Thanks for the advice - the trademark problem did concern me a little, but it goes on all day every day on the Internet... I was counting on Apple not giving a monkey's about such a trivial little domain.
![]() Can Apple actually do anything about a domain name DEDICATED to one of their products (as apposed to me making a phone and calling it an iPhone)? I was tempted to whack a load of adsense on it and leave it but with all the "hype" surrounding the iPhone it will probably never see any traffic at all unless I do something about promoting it... In which case I would need to develop it... Catch 22 really

I can't see they will do anything with this domain, it's quite clear that the name is for users of the product rather than you trying to pass off as the actual product.
I'll see if I can get any interest.
