I have been debating wether to advertise "commission only" sales positions for yourlocaltrades.co.uk, however- I use to do them myself, but now I tend to dismiss them rather quickly!, has this had its day??
Let me know your views, thanks. |

I think Dave (Bizal) made the point previous that it's better to have quality sales people on basic plus commission who can deliver real results, rather than loads of salespeople on commission only who can't make a sale.
2c.

Thats what i was thinking, i can remember the "gas and electric" days when all they would do is moan! working all week and getting one deal, (no bragging put i held the record of 18 in a day!!!)
I was also thinking along the lines that the employee could be rubbish, get nothing all week and then you have to pay them!!! |

That's where good, solid interviewing techniques will root out the time wasters.
Make sure you check references of all prospective salesmen so you can validate their 'i am a brilliant salesman' claims

If a salesman can convince you he's brilliant in an interview, he just might be. After all, he just sold himself.

yes Brian is bang on the money again but I would also like to add an interesting point made by a sales team a few months ago.
Most people who pay this way are perceived to be either dodgy ( that comment included things like the product did not work, no track record of sales, it sound like a scam) or the company has real cash flow problems i.e. Either way the good salesperson says no.

On another note, what are the legalities regarding commission-only sales and the minimum wage/employment law?
