how to launch popup with click?

Does anybody know how to use javascript to launch a popup if a visitor clicks a link? I only want the popup to launch if whoever is browsing clicks on a certain link, but I can't figure out how to not make it launch all the time.

Hi Claire. you know me from Hostbidder well it was getting boring. anyway down to the point: i dont understand what you need you want to launch a popup when someone types in you.com?
