Default Yours thoughts on religion :)

Ok as well as a webmaster, other things which fascinate me are science, philosophy and history..

Religion is abit of a messy subject for me to get to grips with myself. My parents Christened me in the Greek Orthodox Church, the Christian Orthodox church was made when a section of the Catholic church broke off (Mainly the Greeks) because we argued over religious teachings.. The word Catholic is a Greek word meaning "Never" so its probably for defiance to the Greeks that the wouldn't change and the word "Orthodox" also a Greek word meaning "The right way".. I'm a person that respects all religions, I don't like to limit myself on views...

Personally, I strongly believe in Jesus Christ... but the way priests talk about his teaching is all wrong.. you hear, "Jesus is the light", Jesus is the Shepard"

But what does that all mean? Its obvious that priests are reading the bible just as it was wrote thousands of yearssssss ago lol..

But we live in modern days.. My personal View on Jesus, is a man born about 2000 years ago, he obviously was a significant man because even other historical documents write about him excluding the bible.. He was a charismatic man, and he often spoke wise words when he was only a child, as he grew older, he found he had the ability to heal people simply with his touch and see the future having visions of God and angles. The star of Bethlehem was also well documented, 2000 years ago the Chinese wrote about an unusually large star which travelled fast.. and if you believe in fate and destiny then Jesus Christ was born for a purpose. This star also happened to appear the day he was born and 3 wise men (probably astrologers) knew of old prophesies that a star would lead to a new born king of the people. Well, Jesus Christ’s teachings has given people throughout 2000 yeas hope and moral teachings that has at least made our societies better places to live. But the forces of nature do not allow a man to leave such a good mark on the earth without paying the price. Jesus knew well before he would be put on the cross and tortured, its also this event that makes the whole image of Jesus so great. He was only one of 2 people that have gone down in history for coming back from the dead and not to forget these are documented events, I can't imagine someone to write a bunch of bollocks and been fooling people for 2000 years.. The second person to come back from the dead is saint Lazarus which Jesus visited because he died, he then bought him back to life. Saint Lazarus now lays in a tomb on top of Church in Cyprus and actually my home city of Larnaca

You can be surprised how powerful Christianity is, so much so that when the ottomans invaded Cyprus they used to respect the churches there and even bought there sick. There is numerous accounts of miracles that have happened throughout Christianity.. Even some which that Vatican City recognises.

There is more to life, that I can asure you.. You don't want to die and to think you will never see your loved ones again? That would be totally unfair to anything that exists.. Not everything is material and not everything can be measured..

However, I do not preach Christianity.. I preach positivity as long as I can try remain positive about people and treat everything the way I would like to be treated and that everything we do should be within a balance just as Aristotle taught Alexander The Great to be

I tend to fall into the category of "spiritual" rather than following any religion. I find them all fascinating, but ultimately too fixated on rules and exclusive revelation.

I can't wait to visit the Russian Orthodox churches, though, before visiting Hagi Sophia in Istanbul - I'm a fan of Byzantine History, and I want to get an idea of what the great Dome *might* have looked like before being stripped bare. Hopefully not too depressing a sight when I see it...

I was once at a lecture and the speaker said " If you have an imaginary pal and call him Paul, and talk to him, etc they call you mad and lock you up. If you have the same imaginary pal i.e. you can not prove he exists but call him God you can build a place to talk to him and they just call you religious!!!

yes coincidently when the Byzantines, split from the Catholic church the ottomans came in and took Constantinople.. Europe had two religious capitals the Vatican and Constantinople and when the split happened the Ottomans took advantage of Greek weakness.. It is a deep shame to had lost such a beautiful and fascinating city. However what goes around comes around You see, Constantinople has the highest earthquake risk in the whole world at the moment and scientists have predicted an earth quake on a massive scale within now to the next 10 years, they have warned the Turkish government but due to there poor economy they have done nothing but "shhhhed" the situation, which isn't good at all. "Hagi Sophia" which should be said "Ayia Sophia" meaning "Saint Sophia" was converted into a mosque but for some strange reason the Turkish government made it into a Museum, which is either for political reasons, tourist reasons or the fact that they respect the church which is very strange for Islamics. I do not recognise the name Istanbul for the city, like many Greeks we still call the place Constantinople, but coincidently Istanbul is also a Greek word "Is tin boli" means "to the town" and Ottomans used to hear the Greeks say I’m going to the town and the name stuck.. Its good that the Turks have allowed Priests and nuns to run and occupy most of the churches there, so religiously we did not lose much. However the whole of Europe lost part of its culture and one of the greatest cities not just the Greeks

I wanted to say "Constantinople" - sometimes I forget the newer name - but it's definitely a city I intend to visit one day.

Heck, a lot of the ancient world.

Maybe one day I'll say hello on the ruined avenues of Corinth?

Bastard Romans destroyed that lol.... Ah well, being the top power is kind of like playing a game of pass the parcel... United super states of Europe will be the next one and India will come very close to becoming the next super power.. India Democratic government with the largest population in the world(soon) with alot of land mass and a booming economy.. Britain has already made itself committed to USA affairs.. Rest of Europe pissed at that because will slow them down alot..

America has started focusing on the middle east alot for domination over India.. Isreal, Turkey, USA, Uk are all sailing in the same boat..
