Have you done absolutely everything that you can to maximise your ranking? After all, Google only really puts websites at the top that are either unique or getting the most hits out of all the sites it's crawling with the keywords someone has put in. You don't need to be an expert to do SEO to be honest, there is a 'cheat list' available online that will help you do everything, which can be found at seomoz.

Make sure you submit your site to Google by going to google accounts, adding a sitemap, robots.txt etc, also try Submit Express to submit your site to all major (and not so major) search engines.

Just go through your website with a 'fine-tooth comb' as it were, to make sure your entire website is search engine friendly. Personally, I have that cheat list printed out and on my wall.
