I am using a DesKtop. The convenience of Desktop is more than Laptop. Why i say this is that u become more focussed while sitting in front of the Desktop and work on it. Personnally i tried Laptop for somedays but made me worse to some extent. I am a core developer in a software industry and Desktop gave me a good value for the interest it created in coding.
Do work on Desktop.
Cheers.

I use a laptop for work as my laptop is too slow to play games - so I am more productive. I use a desktop for games as it has more power.

laptop. Have been since I started. Then again I run a very lean operation. Dont keep e-mails, and all data is regularly backed up. By lean I mean I could switch to a pc or different laptop very quickly. Benefit of a laptop is I can work off site. Currently have about 40gb of critical data, plus video storage and archive storage. Laptop is fine. Slows down occasioanally when I work very large graphics files, but for most use, dreamweaver, its ok.

Also have a Nokia E90 with 800 px screen. Excellent for studying web sites from pubs. First mobile phone I have seen that can display full web sites without loads of scrolling. When its laid out it looks like a very small laptop.

Laptop.. but as a desktop. Connected to a nice flatscreen, 250gb WD Mybook, keyboard and a real mouse.
Then when I want a change of scenery it can come with me!

As it happens, I'm looking to buy a new desktop system with a dual-monitor setup for the office. If anyone has any recommendations or happens to be selling one, please drop me a line

This is where I look greedy but I test a lot of sites/frameworks on different OS/setups so bear with me. I have:

Office:
Server: running Ubuntu 6.10 with SVK repository.
Desktop: running Ubuntu 7.04 with SVK Client
Mac Mini: running Mac 10.3
Desktop: running Windows XP Pro (of course)

Home:
Desktop: Dual Monitor powerhorse (silly specs) running Windows XP and Virtual Server with SUSE 10 Enterprise and Ubuntu 6.10 (may also be installing Fedora yet)

Laptop: Apple Macbook running 10.4 Tiger with parallels 3.0 installed, currently running Ubuntu 7.04 (with an SVK client) but may also install install Windows XP.

I will be getting another machine, probably an iMac running 10.5 Leopard when it is released, that will have Parallels installed and no-doubt have the next Ubuntu (should be 7.11) under it and maybe a version of Vista

We've had nothing but trouble rolling out Leopard as an upgrade to Tiger. A colleague used the time machine which completely wiped all of his profile settings for every application - no email accounts, no bookmarks, nothing.

Very disappointed to say the least. Thankfully I was out the day the Leopard discs arrived so I'm sticking with Tiger for now!
